Von Braun Astronomical Society Planetarium and Observatories, Monte Sano State Park
With the dark, air conditioned environment of the planetarium for hands on optics and light experiments, and the planetarium dome for the laser display and performance at the end of the week, the VBAS facility is perfect for Laser Camp.
Campers may also get to experience the planetarium night sky time permitting (both instructors give public planetarium shows on Saturdays!) and will certainly get to experience the wonderful park surroundings.
As this isn't a school/classroom setting, please note that there is no ADA accessible bathroom and campers will be exposed to nature (bugs, plants that could cause allergic reaction etc.,.)
Access to the park for drop off and pick up will be free upon presentation of a parking pass which will be sent ahead of their camp week.
Directions
From 431 (Governors Drive), take the Monte Sano exit, following the brown signs for VBAS Observatory and Planetarium and Monte Sano State Park. At the park entrance, show your parking pass and follow the road, bearing left at the fork. Pass the office and RV campground and turn onto Observatory Drive at the VBAS entrance. Follow the road down to the observatory.
